TUF stands for The Ultimate Force. The TUF series delivers a “tough” image. With a unique design and high-quality components (military-standard), the TUF series is born for pursuing preeminent stability, all-round compatibility, and extreme durability.
Start with the ultimate cooling solution, which combines TUF Thermal Armor for total airflow-boosting heat dissipation, and TUF Thermal Radar for real time temp detection and heat removal. The military-standard TUF Components, such as Choke, Cap. and MOSFET, enable rock solid stability even under heavy duty or severe environments. New DIGI+ Power Control presents an all-new precise digital power control for CPU, iGPU and DRAM for better efficiency and overclocking margin. More features like UEFI BIOS for full-scale performance tuning with easy BIOS Interface, USB 3.0 Boost technology, network iControl for real-time bandwidth control and USB BIOS Flashback for easy, worry-free BIOS update or recovery guarantee an incredible performance, easy functionality tweaking, and effortless system maintenance. The LucidLogix Virtu MVP enables up to a 60% hybrid graphics boost while the SLI and CrossFireX support in combination with the PCIe 3.0 capabilities push the graphics performance to a new level to bring you a brand new gaming experience.
- 'Ultimate COOL!' Thermal Solution New generation Thermal Armor boosts cooling with dual turbo fans, enhancing the original TUF thermal design and helping direct hot air away from components and the motherboard via smart shunt funneling. It covers the entire board with more powerful airflow, and uses special heat pipes to expedite thermal removal and make sure temperatures stay low. The dedicated I/O cover fan draws additional cold air in and expels even more heat for improved stability, plus special convection holes in the PCB facilitates underside airflow. Thermal Radar monitors temperatures in critical parts of the board, automatically adjusting fan speeds for better system stability. Fan Overtime keeps fans working in critical minutes post shutdown to extend component lifespan, dropping temperatures by 45°F in just ten minutes after the computer turns off. New Fan Off consists of a switch that disables fans should temperatures drop below a manually or automatically set level for effective power consumption.
- TUF Components (Choke, Cap. and MOSFET; Certified by Military-Standard) Get rugged performance even in the most challenging conditions with robust TUF chokes, solid capacitors, and MOSFETs--certified through third-party, military-grade testing. TUF Choke, also known as the “Alloy Choke”, is made of a compound of various types of metal instead of standard iron, enabling the support of up to a massive 40A of rated current, 25% higher than conventional components. Furthermore, the single piece packaging also eliminates the emission of vibration noise, delivering superb characteristics as well as durability under extreme conditions.
- New DIGI+ Power Control New DIGI+ Power Control includes multiple digital voltage controllers, allowing ultra-precise modulation and tuning for CPU, iGPU, and DRAM. This innovative and industry-leading ASUS technology provides an extremely accurate voltage tuning for better efficiency, stability, and performance. With the next generation Intel VRD 12.5 future power design, CPU wattage can be decreased by half, creating a cooler and quieter PC. This innovation of industry-leading ASUS technology provides the smartest control for better power saving scenarios.
- LucidLogix Virtu MVP LucidLogix Virtu MVP featuring HyperFormance Technology boosts your discrete graphics card up to 60% beyond its original performance through the test of 3DMark Vantage. Designed for Intel processor graphics and Windows 7 PCs, it perfectly combines the performance of discrete graphics cards with fast computing iGPU. Also with the newly designed Virtual Sync, users can enjoy a smoother gaming experience by eliminating tearing artifacts. LucidLogix Virtu MVP could also dynamically assign tasks to the best available graphics resource, based on power, performance and system load. This allows users to fully utilize three times faster video conversion with Intel Quick Sync Video technology while retaining high-end 3D rendering and gaming performance, provided by both NVIDIA and AMD graphic cards. When the discrete graphics card is not required, power consumption goes automatically down to near zero, making the system more environmentally-friendly.
- Intel Smart Response Technology Intel Smart Response Technology boosts overall system performance. It uses an installed fast SSD (min 18.6GB available capacity required) as a cache for frequently accessed data. Key benefits include reduced load and wait times, and lower power consumption through the elimination of unnecessary hard drive spin. This technology combines SSD performance with hard drive capacity, operating up to six times faster than a hard drive-only system.

Pros: Built my 1st computer using this Motherboard and it was very easy to use and didn't have to worry about bending pins etc because it's armored. The armor does take up space but has worked like a charm for a few years then died on the 5th year.
Cons: Would be better if product had a 10 year warranty as it abruptly died.
Asus Sabertooth Z77 Realtek Pcie Controller Driver Download
Pros: Just now getting to review this years later. This motherboard is still crushing it, have it paired with a 3570K and that combo has done well for a machine I built for my little brother 5 years ago. Runs Cool, stable, OCs well, and all the Armour/fans come in handy. This was my first Sabertooth/TUF board, I now have three and they all work perfectly and suspect they will still be running years from now.
Cons: none so far
Pros: Never had any trouble, great overclocking capabilities. Great features for cooling and monitoring temps.
Cons: None
Realtek Pcie Gbe Family Controller
Pros: clean look, great design, stilling crushing games
Cons: no
Pros: -5 years without any problems.
-This is actually a reeeeaaalllyyy good mobo
Cons: -be warn that not every air cooler will fit on this because of the thermal tank
Pros: I had the board for 5 years almost then it malfunctioned, could of been a couple different things someone could of knocked it over. No idea, Got a new board from asus no issues(I went through all the steps testing slots with different hardware), I installed it and it works like a charm, great board, does what you want it to do.
Cons: No cons other then it not taking at least 64gb of ram. but you pay for that.
Other Thoughts: I was a first time builder and wanted to keep the comp pretty affordable...my set up is(4 1/2 years ago)
Roswell black hawk tower(13 fans) very accommodating tower(its big, space for air, push pull setup)
Sound blaster z series(5.1 surround) sound card
gtx670 geforce(gpu)(buying the titan x pascal shortly)
1000w psu
240 seidon radiator cooler master
i7 cpu
32gb of ram (gszkill ares) just installed that yesterday, it takes it all, but you have to first start with 2 sticks load it up, wait a little, turn it off, install one still, wait a little, turn it off install the last stick, all good.
1 tb hard drive( didn't go with solid state drives because of price to storage)
this board can just keep on taking stuff, eventually i will move up in mobo quailty(128gb of ram), but this board, and the set up i have is no issues. I didn't even try overclocking anything...I bought this all from newegg...all parts worked no problems.
Pros: Lots of USB ports, even 3.0.
Cons: Can't do Wake on LAN
ASUS Tech Support is awful
Pros: Bought it 4/21/2012 still running
-every time I open up the case to dust off it has virtually no dust on any of its components, the armor does a great job.
-Easy to use and setup, for those new to overclocking or just lazy the presets are easy to use.
-Looks sweet
-the little fans under the armor create great airflow to sections that otherwise get very little.
Asus Sabertooth Z77 Realtek Pcie Controller Driver Windows 10
Cons: -Fan control could use improvement. My CPU (heat-sink with duel fans) will warn it's not running fast enough when booting unless it's disabled so you can't use the warning system of a failed fan and have fans adjust to load. I feel the bios should know 'hey fans are slow due to low temp, I better not pause boot up'
-Preset profile for overclocking causes random BSOD, from gaming or just browsing. Might be other components, just have to tweak a bit.
Other Thoughts: It's a late review but time tested this mobo and it passed, going back I'd buy it again.
I'm building a new system and would love to get the current generation except that the price is just a bit steep and no good combo's.
